About Us
Our Methods
Our aim is to make the process of learning to swim EASY, ENJOYABLE and EFFECTIVE:
EASY ~ During the early stages our swimming teachers deliver the lessons in the water in order to provide direct contact with the learner and help boost confidence at this critical stage of learning how to swim.
ENJOYABLE ~ All lessons are delivered in a relaxed and fun atmosphere, utilising water games where appropriate.
EFFECTIVE ~ The classes are kept small in order to assure the best attention of our swimming teachers, enhance the development of the correct skills and to produce safe and competent swimmers.
Teachers are recruited from a variety of backgrounds that include: current competitive swimmers, former competitive swimmers, school teachers and parents.
Our swimming teaching programme uses a progressive and systematic development pathway that adheres to sound technical and educational principles of swimming.
In Safe Hands
Swimmers at our SwimEasy lessons are always in safe hands. First and foremost we constantly stress the need for safety. Not only will your child learn to feel safe in water but will be taught the appropriate behaviour when at a pool. Our teachers all receive special training to ensure these matters are covered.
Quality Training
All our teachers undergo a regular training and education programme to keep them up to date with the latest developments in the profession. They are taught how to structure each lesson and the best way to plan a term of lessons in order that the swimmers improve as effectively as possible. In addition to the ‘internal’ training our teachers also undertake ‘external’ training by progressing through the national governing body’s swimming teacher certification programme.
SwimEasy Passport to Success
All SwimEasy lessons are delivered in accordance with our unique 'Passport' system.
When first joining the programme, each swimmer is given a Passport booklet, which they keep for the duration of their time with SwimEasy. This Passport guides the swimmer through all the different stages, outlining each level of the swimming lessons pathway and all the skills necessary to accomplish, within each level and stage. The swimmers receive a small 'smiley face' sticker when they successfully achieve the various skills and a large 'smiley face' upon completion of each level.
Once a swimmer receives three large (or 'maxi') stickers, they are ready to progress to the next stage.
Similar to our swim caps, stages are colour coded to ensure easy identification by the teachers and easy recognition by the swimmers. The early classes are coded red, before moving to yellow, then green and finally blue.
When all the available stickers have been obtained and placed in the Passport, the swimmer is ready to graduate into 'club swimming'.
Our normal procedure is to graduate our students into Scotland's leading and most famous swimming club, Warrender Baths Club.
