How many swimmers are in a class?

The recommended numbers are only provisional and not guaranteed. However, we work with low numbers with 4 per teacher in the Pre-school, Non-swimmer, Beginner, Learner & Improver Stages. The numbers increase as the children progress to the SwimWell Stage (Green hats).

Children learn from touch and feel and the only way to learn the complex movement and skills is from minimal manipulation by the teachers.

How long does it take for a child to learn to swim?

This depends very much on the child, their age and how they react and respond to our teaching. It is vital that children are able to listen and are willing to learn. Progression is usually faster during the early stages of Non-Swimmer and Beginner. As a child progresses onto Learner and Improver a slowing up of progression occurs. However, children will improve if they practice between swimming lessons. Pupils who do not practice in between lessons will generally not make improvements as fast. It is important however that practice is performed correctly and should not mean simply going to the pool and only playing around.
