From First Splash to the Big Stage: The Path to the Commonwealth Games

The excitement is officially reaching a fever pitch across Scotland as the countdown to the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games comes to a spectacular finish! The finest athletes from across the globe are stepping onto the blocks to showcase ultimate speed, strength, and flawless technique right on our doorstep at the Tollcross International Swimming Centre.

For anyone who loves the sport, watching the swimming events is a masterclass in elite efficiency. But long before an international athlete steps onto a Commonwealth block under the bright stadium lights, their journey started exactly where your child is standing today: at a local swimming pool, learning how to feel the water.

At SwimEasy, our connection to national and international success runs deep. We aren’t just teaching children how to get from one side of the pool to the other, we are instilling the exact technical foundations required to reach the very pinnacle of the sport.

Why Our Foundations Create Champions

We don’t believe in crowded classes where kids stand shivering on the steps. To build a highly confident, safe swimmer, or a future champion, attention to detail is everything.

  • Flawless Stroke Mechanics: We fix the tiny technical flaws early. By teaching correct body positioning from the very first lesson, we ensure kids don’t hit a developmental “plateau” later in life.
  • Maximum Time at Task: Our signature small class sizes mean your child spends their lesson swimming and actively learning, not waiting around.
  • A Continuous, Progressive Pathway: Our structured curriculum guides learners seamlessly from basic water confidence all the way up to competitive pre-club standards.

Meet Our Team Scotland Heroes: From First Splash to the Blocks

We are bursting with pride to watch three incredible athletes represent Team Scotland at the Games. Referencing our official graphic showcase, their journeys represent everything SwimEasy stands for, and our entire community is cheering them on.

Katie Shanahan*

Katie’s rise through the ranks of international swimming has been nothing short of spectacular. A beautifully efficient swimmer, Katie has transitioned from an exciting local prospect into a powerhouse of British and Scottish swimming. As a previously sponsored SwimEasy athlete, we’ve watched her continuous dedication to technique turn her into a true role model for every young boy and girl putting on a SwimEasy cap today.

Dean Fearn*

Dean is our currently sponsored athlete and has been a proud part of the SwimEasy family for the last two years! Representing the exciting future of Scottish swimming, Dean’s explosive speed and work ethic are an absolute masterclass for our current students. Having his backing and watching his journey to the highest level of sport proves that the pathway from learning to swim to qualifying for a major international competition is entirely real.

Archie Goodburn*

Archie’s story is one of pure, undeniable inspiration. An elite breaststroke specialist and former Scottish record holder, Archie was a previously sponsored athlete with us. In 2024, while training at the highest level, Archie was diagnosed with rare, incurable brain tumours.

Faced with a life-changing diagnosis, Archie chose to face it completely head-on. Showing the ultimate heart of a champion, he has continued to train, race, and shatter personal bests at the elite university level while simultaneously becoming a massive, powerful national advocate for brain cancer research and funding. Archie doesn’t just represent the spirit of competitive swimming; he represents the very peak of human resilience.
