An Established Partnership Expands to New Horizons
The foundation of this expanded initiative is the robust, two-year partnership with the Darcey Sunshine Foundation. This enduring collaboration has consistently allowed for the creation of a bursary programme that directly addresses the financial barriers preventing many children from accessing essential swimming education. SwimEasy is now delighted to onboard the invaluable help and support of the Spartans Community Football Academy Foundation to extend this vital work.
“Safety and skill development are at the heart of SwimEasy’s mission,” said Taylor Smith, a SwimEasy consultant representative. “Our bursary programme, fully supported by the Darcey Sunshine Foundation, provides more than just a few introductory classes. It covers a full year of lessons, for entry level children (5-7 year olds) ensuring children have the continuous tuition necessary to become competent, safe, and confident swimmers. The Darcey Sunshine Foundation’s mission to bring light and opportunity to young lives perfectly mirrors SwimEasy’s values of community welfare and accessibility.”
The bursaries cover the full cost of this year-long block of lessons, making swimming proficiency an accessible reality for children who might otherwise miss out.
A Personal Connection to North Edinburgh with the Spartans Foundation
The addition of the Spartans Community Football Academy Foundation is a significant step, focusing outreach efforts on North Edinburgh, an area particularly close to the heart of SwimEasy’s leadership.
“SwimEasy continues to support the community, and we are delighted to offer this round of bursaries in North Edinburgh, which is an area close to my heart,” said Gail Smith, MD of SwimEasy. “I met my husband Phil over 50 years ago, who lived in Martello Court in Muirhouse, which is an area that we hope to support with this initiative.”
The Spartans Foundation, a trusted pillar in North Edinburgh, will play a crucial role in outreach, connecting directly with families in need of financial support in their community and facilitating their access to the free-swimming lessons delivered by SwimEasy. This tripartite alliance ensures the programme is effectively and compassionately deployed, fostering a safe and supportive environment for every child.
