As we gear up to get back into the water this Saturday, there is always a special kind of energy in the air. A new term represents a fresh chapter; new goals, bigger smiles, and that incredible boost in confidence that comes with every single splash.
While our swimmers have been enjoying their summer, our team has been working hard behind the scenes to make this upcoming term our best yet. SwimEasy has always been a family-run business built for families, and as we approach nearly 30 years of teaching, we remain as passionate as ever about continuous improvement. Here is a quick look at what’s been happening behind the scenes to elevate your child’s experience this term.
Celebrating Our SwimEasy Stars
Summer is always a great time for sport, and watching former SwimEasy athletes compete at the highest level has been an incredible point of pride for our entire team. Watching talent like Katie Shanahan, Dean Fearn, and Archie Goodburn perform on the Commonwealth Games stage serves as a powerful reminder of where a love for the water can lead.
As many in the Scottish swimming community know, Archie Goodburn has faced an extraordinary personal challenge with his health over the past couple of years. Further down in this month’s newsletter, we dive deeper into Archie’s inspiring journey, his ongoing fight against brain cancer, and how our SwimEasy community can come together to support and share his cause far and wide.
Empowering Our Community: Curriculum Standardisation Day
Before opening our doors for the new term, we brought together parents, children, and teachers for a hugely successful Curriculum Standardisation Day. Swimming education shouldn’t happen in a vacuum, it thrives when everyone involved is aligned.
Together, we explored the direction of travel for our swimmers, sharing insights, listening to feedback, and discussing how we can best support every child’s individual progress. Having parents and young swimmers actively contribute to these conversations provided invaluable perspective, ensuring our standard of teaching stays both exceptionally high and genuinely child-centred. It was also a great chance to watch each other teach, try new things and discuss what we do well and what could be even better in the future.
Launching Our Brand New Teacher Portal
We are also thrilled to introduce our brand new Teacher Portal this term. Designed to foster stronger communication and ongoing collaboration, this platform creates dedicated “communities of practice” for our teaching team across Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Falkirk.
Through the portal (a bespoke programme build in house), our instructors can share best practices, refine technique strategies, and continually learn from one another. It ensures that no matter which pool your family visits, you receive the consistent, top-tier instruction that defines the SwimEasy standard.
Driven by Family and Purpose
It’s easy to focus solely on what happens during a 30-minute lesson, but these background initiatives are what truly set SwimEasy apart. We don’t just teach swimming, we build lifelong water safety, physical resilience, and self-belief.
As we jump into the new term, we also remain deeply committed to our partnership with The Darcey Sunshine Foundation, continuing our work to provide bursaries and essential water safety education to underprivileged children. We are also more committed than ever to supporting ASN needs through Active Schools and internally where possible.
