I started my SwimEasy journey way back at the very beginning around 25 years ago. I was studying for my HND in Sports coaching and Development at Edinburgh’s Telford College and the only other teacher was Gail Smith. Over those 25 years I have been in and out of the SwimEasy setup, however I always kept a close eye on the evolution of the SwimEasy learn to swim program. Even when I became an international Scotland 7s professional rugby player, swimming and SwimEasy was never too far away from my focus. After retiring from rugby I found myself in the model and acting industry and landed an amazing job as “Glen” the Scotch Beef guy which allowed me to go and live in New York, where I used my swimming knowledge to help teach a few summer camps.
After a stint in London and more film and TV work, I found myself back in Edinburgh and back to my SwimEasy roots. My job had changed slightly where I was monitoring the progress of the swimmers and the program trying constantly to keep up with the changes needed to provide the best quality swimming lessons possible. Prior to covid I needed to step back from various things to allow me to rest and reset my mind and the SwimEasy team allowed me the time and space to heal and find my feet again. In August 2023 I was finally ready to come back to Edinburgh and join the SwimEasy team again, this time in an amazing role as Teacher Support and Development Officer, where I get to share my knowledge with the new up and coming SwimEasy teachers to help them provide the best swimming lessons in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Falkirk and beyond.
